Vacancies at Great Amwell

We are currently looking to recruit a Chef to work with our Head Chef at our busy Great Amwell Garden Centre.

We offer great food in a comfortable, friendly environment where customers can relax and enjoy the following: tasty breakfasts, morning coffee, long lunches and afternoon tea, we also offer children's meals.

We have a full-time vacancy supporting our warehouse function with the administration procedures. The successful candidate will have excellent attention to detail, and be physically fit to meet the demands of the role which include:

Booking deliveries with customers and the preparation of delivery paperwork.Providing stock information to our 3PL partner & administration for their account.Keep the filing system up to date.Confirm Goods-In bookings with suppliers.Take ownership of in-transit claims.Assist with gaining timely responses from suppliers in regard to relevant stock returns.Assist with picking and administration of the company click and collect orders.Be flexible to work in other areas of the warehouse such as assisting with supplier returns and click & collect orders.Work as part of a team ensuring the smooth running of the Warehouse.Conduct processes in line with standard operating procedures.Strict adherence to all health & safety requirements within the warehouse and its environs.Ensure the warehouse is kept in a clean and tidy state.

Skills required:

We are looking for a Landscape Area Supervisor to join our team and to assist our OSA Manager in the day to day running of the outside area at our Great Amwell Garden Centre.  Previous experience of working in a garden centre or a similar retail environment is essential.


Main Responsibilities:

Supporting the OSA Manager to maximise sales and profitAssisting the OSA to manage the team, including training and development of colleagues.Assisting to create displays and merchandising, including seasonal changes within the department.Stock control and quality controlReordering of stock across all departmentsEnsuring Health and Safety standards are adhered to and maintained at all timesDeputising for the OSA Manager in their absence.Additional store duties including taking part in the locking and unlocking rota.

We have a great opportunity for a full-time Catering Assistant to join our Chenies Catering Team.  We are looking for someone with a passion for cooking.  This is a full-time post including working alternate weekends. but no unsocial hours or split shifts.


Our Catering Team provides a welcoming and friendly service to our customers.  The successful candidate will be able to provide a high standard of customer service whilst working in a fast-paced environment.

We currently have a great opportunity working in the outside area giving our customers advice and outstanding customer service, working Monday to Friday from 9.00 am to 5.30 pm

The successful applicant will be working with a wide range of garden landscape and ornamental products and be responsible for the delivery to our customers in a professional and cost-effective manner, delivering and unloading according to customer requirements.

Duties will include:

Following routes and time schedules.Loading, unloading, preparing, inspecting and operating the delivery vehicle.Making sure that the load is correctly placed and secure.Stock replenishment and heavy lifting.Maintaining a log book with details of trips, including rest breaks.

Requirements:

Proven working experience as a Delivery Driver (light, commercial vehicles).Valid, clean driving licence.Ability to operate forklifts would be an advantage.Experience of manual handling.

Ideally, this position would suit someone with local area knowledge. We are looking for candidates who are able to demonstrate excellent communication skills and possess a friendly personality, who can ensure the highest customer service.

We have vacancies for a Kitchen Assistants to work at Café VH in Peterborough, alternate Saturdays and every Sunday.

As a Kitchen Porter experience is not essential, but you will be capable of working under pressure while maintaining high health & safety and hygiene standards.

We have an exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified, experienced and enthusiastic Group HR Manager to oversee a small team and provide support across the company.  Whilst being based at Head Office in Ware you will also be required to travel to our other garden centres at Chenies and Peterborough on a regular basis.

You will be responsible for managing all core HR departmental areas, including payroll, employee relations, performance management, recruitment, and resourcing. 
You will also provide focused and pragmatic generalist and operational HR support including HR admin, learning and development, recruitment, employee relations, and maintaining and improving HR systems.

We currently have an exciting opportunity within Head Office, working as part of our Buying Team alongside the Category Managers to ensure the company data system is up to date with accurate purchasing information. Raising purchase orders, resolving invoice queries and day to day data entry.

The successful candidate will assist the Lifestyle Category Manager in strengthening the Van Hage brand.

 Duties will include

- Compiling product information from suppliers.

- Producing analysis and information on sales and stock as appropriate.

- Inputting purchasing data and updating and amending as required.

- Uploading product data to ensure all purchasing information is accurate.

- Creating and managing any Category or product system offers.

- Liaising with suppliers to ensure all epos/data information is complete.

- Dealing with supplier invoice queries and internal product queries.

- Ensure that records on company data base are regularly monitored for accurate information and maintained accordingly.

Skills required include:

- High level of computer literacy including competent use of Microsoft packages.

- Ability to work under pressure and as part of a team.

- Strong attention to detail and ability to multi-task.

In-house training will be provided.  This is a full-time, permanent role working Monday to Friday.
