Whether you think of yourself as a Torvill and Dean or simply scramble around like Bambi, the Skate Van Hage ice rink is the ultimate experience for all the family, no matter your age or ability.

In partnership with Peterborough ONE Retail Park, Van Hage will be running an Ice Rink at it's Peterborough location - surrounded by wonderful lighting and seasonal music, it's an event not to miss! This year we are covering the rink so it becomes a truly all weather event.

We have a full range of figure skates included in the price of admission and your shoes will be looked after while you are out on the ice. We do not hire hockey skates. However you may bring your own to use but please be aware of the rink rules.

Prices range from £5.00 to £8.50

We also have skating aids available to hire. Limited number available so we would advise you book these in advance due to their popularity.

Tickets are available online, to avoid disappointment booking online is advised.

Opening Times

We advise you arrive 15/20 minutes prior to your scheduled booking slot to allow yourself plenty of time to book in and collect your skates.

Sessions commence on the hour and last for a total of 45 minutes. This allows for the professional assessment of the ice and resurfacing to take place. Such work between sessions ensures optimum skating conditions for everyone regardless of when you choose to visit.

If you do not wish to skate during these times, we do have a full skating programme available here  

Ticket Types & Sessions

Adult - Persons aged 15 years and older. 

Child - Children aged 14 and under on the day of skating. Please note that children under 8 years old must be accompanied on the ice by an adult.

Group Bookings – ice skating is fun and it’s even better with a group of friends or colleagues. Receive 15% off for groups of fifteen or more, this is booked online using the standard ticket system, discount will be applied when tickets are added to your basket. 15% discount doesn't apply to family tickets.

Skate Hire & Size Guide

We are proud to offer a wide range of top-quality ice skates for ultimate skating comfort all included in the ticket price. With a huge selection of skates starting at children’s size 8 and finishing at adult size 15, you can be confident in finding the perfect pair whenever you choose to skate.

All visitors are welcome to bring along their own skates at no extra cost providing they are deemed suitable for the ice by our marshals.

Skate Aids

Our role is to maintain a safe environment and ensure that skaters have a really fun time! Parents and Guardians are reminded that supervision of children is required by them at all times to ensure the continuous safety and wellbeing of the children.  Skate aids enable the skater to skate behind it with ease or allows them to sit on the aid and be pushed around by an experienced skater. We cannot guarantee availability on the day and therefore recommend booking your skating aid online in advance. They are hired on a per session basis. Please also note our Skate Aids are in the form of a Banana and Penguin.


In addition to the main skates, we also have a range of 'Bob-Skates' available for younger children which are designed to fit directly over a child’s normal shoes. We recommend visiting us prior to your ice skating session to test the fit of the skates on your child.

Please note that all ice skates sizes usually come up similar or slightly smaller than standard shoe sizes. As a result, we would recommend that you first try your normal size then switch if they feel too tight. We also recommend you wear thick socks, for comfort and gloves to protect your hands.

Thank you for visiting Skate PE1 and reviewing our terms and conditions for this event. Please be aware ice skating carries its own risks and it is of paramount importance you read the information below prior to booking your tickets.

On booking your tickets you agree to abide by and be bound by these terms and conditions. 

Cancellations/Refund Policy.

Ice skating takes place in all weather, bookings are therefore non-refundable and non-transferable.

In exceptional circumstances it may be necessary to cancel/change the ice skating session booked. The company reserves the right to make reasonable changes and shall inform the customer as soon as reasonably possible. In these circumstances the company will offer ticket holders an alternative session date and time up to the value of the original tickets. If this is not possible by the company, a full refund will be given. A refund will only be given on presentation of the original tickets within 28 days of the cancelled session. It is your responsibility to ascertain whether an event has been cancelled and the date and time of any rearranged event.

We will not be responsible for any tickets that are lost or stolen.

Obligations of the Customer.

The Customer shall check all booking documentation immediately once it is issued to him/her. Any errors must be brought to the Company’s attention immediately and cannot be rectified later. If the Customer has a query in relation to the contents of any document they must notify the Company of these concerns within seven days of receipt. It is the responsibility of the Customer to ensure that all booking details etc. are in order.

The Customer booking the Service is solely responsible for ensuring that they and all members of the Customer Group:

  1. Are fully and properly informed of these terms and conditions and the Booking details
  2. Are physically capable of taking part in such activities, suffer no disabilities or conditions that may impair, restrict or endanger their involvement or that of other members of the group’s involvement in the activity.
  3. Act at all times in a safe, responsible and courteous manner and comply with all safety procedures and requirements.
  4. Abide by the rules and regulations of the Ice Rink and undertake to accept and follow all Instructions issued to them by the Skate Manager.
  5. Ensure Children younger than 8 are accompanied by an adult on the ice (one adult for every three under 8's).

The customer accepts to have the knowledge of, and assume the risks associated with ice skating which include but are not limited to the following;

  1. Injuries that result from collision or contact with other skaters or other individuals who are on the ice skating surface;
  2. Injuries that result from falls; and
  3. Injuries that involve objects that are within the properly intented path of travel of the skater

The good conduct and behaviour of all parties on the Ice Rink is critical to the ability of the Skate Manager to deliver the service and as such the Skate Manager has the final say and full authority to remove any person(s) who fail to comply with instructions and requests. No refunds will be issued in such circumstances.

The Customer accepts they are responsible for their actions and decisions whilst skating on the ice. Should any person within the customer group require specialised medical treatment in the event of an accident or fitting on the ice or premises they will be treated by a member within the customer group. Our ice marshals are there to assist them off the ice at the appropriate time, should this be required.  

The customer accepts responsibility to bring their own safety equipment should their level of skating require. Items to include gloves, thick socks, elbow & knee protectors etc. to reduce the likelihood of injury.

Accepts for safety regulations the rink has a maximum number of skaters for each session, and only those with tickets will gain entry to the Ice Rink.

The Customer accepts responsibility for any intentional damage caused to the Ice Rink venue or equipment. The Customer will be liable to the Company for such loss or damage.

We recommend that the customer takes out the appropriate insurance which will cover them in the event of personal accident, medical expenses, emergency evacuation, loss of any monies and the participation in dangerous sports.

Arrive at the Venue 20 minutes before the start times outlined in the booking confirmation email. Late arrivals cannot be catered for and no refunds will be issued in such circumstances.

Customers who have pre-booked online must present their printed ticket/s with its unique reference number/s to ensure entry into the event. 

Please note whilst our first aiders will be on site and are trained in areas such as

  1. Managing an emergency
  2. Communication and casualty care
  3. Bleeding (minor and severe)
  4. Choking (adult)
  5. Burns
  6. Fainting
  7. Health and safety (first aid) regulations
  8. Resuscitation (adult CPR)
  9. Shock
  10. Unresponsive casualty

They will not be specialised in dealing with behavioural issues or more complex medical requirements. Parents/Carers will assume responsibility for administering any medication and call for an ambulance should the need require.

Can I book tickets over the telephone?

Tickets can be purchased online at or in store from our Skate Van Hage booking desk, located within the Ice Rink.

Can I cancel or change a Skate booking to a different time or date?

No. Please note that as per our terms and conditions, we are unable to transfer skating sessions or offer refunds for any reason. Please ensure that you are confident in being able to fulfil your booking before completing the purchase of tickets.

Can I turn up on the day and Skate?

Yes, depending on availability. Although we strongly advise all skaters book tickets in advance to avoid disappointment, our on-the-day sales desk (located in the Ice Rink entrance) is manned throughout each day to take bookings for upcoming sessions.

What age can I bring my children?

For Health & Safety reasons we recommend children of 3 years and above are suitable to participate in our ice skating sessions. For these younger children we have special ‘Bob-Skates' which fit directly over the child’s normal shoes. We would advise that you visit us in store prior to booking to test the fit of the skates on your child. Should you wish for younger children to participate then this will be at parents own risk. We do not accept any responsibility for their wellbeing, and advise you refer to our terms and conditions. Children under 3 will still require a ticket to be purchased. 

Which age can children Skate unsupervised?

For safety reasons, we require all children aged 8 years and under to be accompanied by a responsible adult on the ice at all times, based on the ratio 3 Children under 8 years of age to 1 Adult. However children or adults with intellectual disabilities or people who may exhibit physical impairments should also be accompanied by a responsible adult or carer on the ice at all times based on the ratio 1 Disabled person to 1 Adult. We advise all adults with children/adults under their care must be competent on the ice. 

Can I hire Skate aids on the day or at the start time of my ice skating session?

We would recommend you pre-book your skate aids, in advance, online or at our booking desk. We only have a limited number available and they are on a first come first served basis. Skate aids are an additional cost to ticket purchases. Please Note: Skate aids CANNOT be purchased on the Ice.

Does skating still go ahead if it's raining?

Yes our Ice Rink is an all-weather event. 

Can I bring my own skates?

Yes. Although skate hire is included in the ticket price, we are happy for you to use your own skates on the ice providing you notify one of our staff when you present your ticket. It is your own responsibility to ensure your own sates are safe.

When should I arrive and where do I go?

We ask that all skaters arrive at least 20-30 minutes before the start of their skating session, however we stress that we cannot be held responsible for customers arriving late and missing either part or all of their session. Please note that at peak times our car park can become extremely busy and we ask that all skaters consider this factor when planning their journey. 

Where can I store my personal belongings while I skate?

Skaters are advised not to bring along items of high value when visiting the Ice Rink, however we can store your belongings in our Skate Collection area for the duration of your session with your shoes. Please note that Van Hage accepts no responsibility for the safety of items left while you skate.

Can we go on the ice for shorter periods of time?

Yes, should you wish to come off the ice earlier than your specified 45 minutes you can, however there will be no reimbursement on your ticket cost.   

Is there disabled access and facilities?

Yes, we have ramps for access to the Ice Rink, along with toilet facilities. 

Do you accept wheelchairs on the ice?

Yes, if required please do ensure you book a disabled ticket. This will grant a carer access onto the ice for support and assistance. All carers must be competent ice skaters and note ice skates must be worn.

Can I bring and consume my own food?

No, all food must be purchased on the premises unless you have specific dietary requirements we are not able to fulfil. 


Will First Aid be available on site?

Yes our first aid area is found close to the Ice Rink exit. Our first aiders will be on site and are trained in areas such as

Managing an emergency

Communication and casualty care

Bleeding (minor and severe)

Choking (adult)



Health and safety (first aid) regulations

Resuscitation (adult CPR)

Will there be any ambulances present on site?

No in the event of an emergency it will be your responsibility to call an ambulance.

What will happen if my child has a tantrum on the ice?

It will be the parents/carers responsibility to handle this situation accordingly. Our ice Marshalls will be on hand to assist if and where possible. Should the Skate manager deem necessary they may ask that they are removed from the Ice Rink for the safety of others on the ice.

What ype of lighting will there be in the Icr Rink?

We use LED floodlights within our Ice Rink. These are multi-functional and include static and flashing capabilities. During most evening sessions they will be flashing.

Will there be Music?

Yes there will be music played throughout. 

Will I be notified when it is time to leave the Ice Rink?

Yes we will announce when the session has ended. 

Why is there a Booking fee charge?

We realise no one likes to pay extra costs, so we do everything we can to keep our fees as low as we can, while still being able to offer you the best possible service.

This is the cost of your ticket, set by Skate PE1 the event organisers.

Booking Fee

These charges are governed by our external supplier whom provide the ticketing service, the booking platform, payment processing and website hosting. We simply pass on their costs and make no profit from it.

If you have any concerns regarding your ice skating session we advise you speak with our Skate Manager prior to purchasing tickets.

A must thing to do this Christmas!!
I visited this ice rink with my family and we had a great time. The staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful. None of us were great skaters but the staff gave us some top tips. It is a very reasonable price for the great experience they provide. Definitely a much place to go this Christmas!

None of us were confident on the ice but the staff were on hand to help us if we wanted. Definitely worth a visit no matter what your skating skills are. Plus such a reasonable price for a brilliant fun time!!!
