Zoological Gardens

Come and visit Hertfordshire's wildest interactive animal adventure. Set within approximately 2 acres of beautifully kept grounds this unique zoo offers guests of all ages and abilities the chance to discover a variety animals up close. Ventura Wildlife’s Zoological Gardens is home to many different species of wild animals including lemurs, zebras, reindeers, emus, kangaroos, wallabies, various tropical wader birds, parrots and giant snakes

Ventura Wildlife’s Zoological Gardens specialises in caring for a number of unusual and endangered animal species. The zoo is the only place in the UK where you can view the bizarre looking Cuban hutia and is one of the few zoos in Europe that is part of the European Endangered species Programme (EEP) for Madagascar’s largest carnivore, the fossa.

Ventura Wildlife’s Zoological Gardens prides itself as small and friendly zoo where the Rangers are always on hand to help you make the most of your visit. There are a series of daily activities including; Ranger talks, animal feeds and the popular interactive animal encounter shows where guests of all ages can get even closer to wildlife with opportunities to hold and touch a variety of animals. If that’s not enough to satisfy your wild side there are a number of behind the scenes animal experiences you can add to your visit such as, ‘Feed the Lemurs’, ‘Feed the wallabies’ and ‘Llama & Alpaca trekking’.

The zoo is actively involved in various conservation projects and supports the work of the Ventura Wildlife Conservation Fund (VWCF). The VWCF is a small non-profit organisation dedicated to raising funds and awareness for a variety of endangered species and their natural habitats.

Ventura Wildlife’s Zoological Gardens is actively involved in educational initiatives around the world and welcomes groups to visit. The Explorers Lodge provides a dedicated educational centre where the zoo offers a series of educational based sessions available for schools, colleges, universities and other educational based groups to enjoy. For groups who are unable to visit the zoo there is also a comprehensive outreach programme that brings the zoo to you.

The zoo is open daily all year round excluding; Christmas Day, Boxing Day and Easter Sunday when the Garden Centre is closed.
