The day possibly dates back as far as the ancient Greeks who would celebrate Rhea, the Mother of the Gods and Goddesses, every Spring with festivals of worship. The Romans also celebrated a mother Goddess, Cybele, every March as far back as 250BC.
Whatever the meaning, it’s a fantastic excuse to spoil that very special lady in our lives and show her just how much we care. This year however, like so many other special occasions, things are a bit different and actually being together may be impossible for many of us. If you can’t deliver the gift in person we offer a delivery service for all online orders.
Despite this, there’s still plenty of ways we can show our love and appreciation and we would like to take this opportunity to suggest some fabulous gift ideas for you.
A plant for the garden might be just what your mum would love more than anything else and we are fully stocked with bedding, specimens, shrubs, trees and perennials to name but a few. Camellias are particularly splendid at this time of year with their strong, glossy ever-green leaves and vibrant blooms. Alternatively we have a range of Roses with caring names like ‘Precious Love’. How about a Patio Fruit Tree for an interesting alternative gift?
Plants aren’t just for the garden though and there’s nothing quite like some beautiful foliage and flowers to brighten the home. Our Houseplant department has many single plants and arrangements to spoil mum with. Some of our favourites are: Succulent and Cactus miniature gardens, Jasmine in a ceramic pot, pink Begonias, Anthuriums and many more!Complete the gift with a lovely Mother’s Day card and some gorgeous gift wrap – we have so much to choose from in our stationary department.
